A Valentine's Day To Remember
Imagine this…
It’s already February, which means that it’s Valentine’s Day crunch time. You’ve been wracking your brain all weekend on how to make this Valentine’s Day a special one. To be quite honest, the dinner and movie thing is getting a bit old for the two of you.
If you’re looking to get a bit creative this year, I have three suggestions on how you can make your Valentine’s Day more memorable than ever. Even better, it doesn’t have to stop at Valentine’s Day:
Run The Town
Do you remember the excitement that came with Easter Egg Hunts as a child? How about we recreate that, just 10x better?!
A scavenger hunt is a cool way to escape the “dinner and movie” routine. Both will allow quality time to spend together, minus the large crowds. Sure, Escape Rooms are fun, but let’s be a bit more original.
Write out a series of clues that will lead your special person to different locations around town – they can be totally random or sites that are connected to a meaningful memory that you two share. Whether it’s the coffee shop where you two met for the first time or a random store, it doesn’t matter.
Here’s the catch: they have to take a selfie at each stop. WARNING: Don’t make the clues too hard to figure out (for all the competitive couples, I’d hate for you to argue at the end of the night) but make it tough enough to allow the two of you to spend a lot of quality time together. It’s the perfect build-up to the final reveal, whether that’s your lover’s favorite pair of shoes or a home-cooked dinner.
The Ideal Staycation
A quick getaway doesn’t always require you to hop on a plane. You don’t even have to leave your state! Find an Airbnb that matches your lover’s style, whether that’s eclectic, romantic, rustic, or whatever; play tourist for the day or stay in for some quality, uninterrupted time together. Sites such as Groupon, TripAdvisor, and Yelp will give you a running start on events that will help put a spin on things.
Want to add an extra touch? Pack an overnight bag for your lover and have them meet you somewhere – no heads up needed.
Allow the “Date Night Jar” to Choose for You
If you’re anything like me, I can invest a little too much thought into planning something for Valentine’s Day. My remedy is this: create a date night jar and leave it to the Universe.
Pick up a mason jar and a pack of colorful popsicle sticks (Dollar Tree is my go-to for this). Color code the popsicle sticks based on your budget for the date. At the bottom of each stick, write out date ideas (I recommend checking out Groupon, Living Social, and TripAdvisor for out-of-the-box ideas). The night before Valentine’s Day, get together and choose a stick...or two. Whatever you pull is what you’d be doing for the following day!
This may take a bit of preparation but I promise that the excitement and anticipation that you’d experience before pulling a stick will be worth it!
These are three of my favorite ideas but I want to hear from you.
What are some cool date night ideas that you’ve either tried or would like to try?
Remember, February is the month of love but it doesn’t have to stop at Valentine’s Day. These ideas can also be used for casual date nights to help nurture your unique connection with your loved one.
...Oh, and ONE MORE THING...
During this time, don’t forget about your girls! Whether you’re single or simply haven’t been dedicating quality time with your girlfriends, I’d love for you to join me in celebrating the power of friendship.
On Saturday, February 22nd, I’m hosting a Galentine’s Day and I want to see you there!
Round up your girls and join me for a night of celebration. Grab a mimosa, a Bloody Mary, or a glass of orange juice and let's toast to being #BOSSCHICKS
xoxo,
